Polyptech on the poems: "The poems that are being shared with you were generated using artificial intelligence (AI), similar to last year's poems published in VV. This time, the AI was trained on the poems of Constantin P. Cavafy. By analysing Cavafy's unique style, rhythm, imagery, and themes, the AI attempted to create new poems inspired by and modelled after his voice.
Cavafy's poetry often explores desire, history, and individual journeys of self-discovery in a cosmopolitan world that is fading away. These new poems continue in this tradition, meditating on themes of longing, perseverance, and finding beauty in small moments. Hopefully, they capture Cavafy's signature tone, which feels both wistful and hopeful.
